New Extension: Free Shipping Incentive
Another Magento extension for you now – this one is pretty simple.

Basically if you have free shipping enabled and a minimum shipping amount to qualify (say £25 or so) then you will see a new box appear at the top of your right/left column.
Something like this:
As you can see from the above image, the incentive changes depending on the quantity in your cart. The styling is easy to change as it is located in the template/freeshippingincentive/freeshippingincentive.phtml file.
To install simply download this file and upload the contents to your app folder. To check it is working make sure you have the following set up:
1. left or right bar is enabled and you have selected which to display the block in your layout/freeshippingincentive.xml file.
2. Free shipping is enabled
3. Minimum amount in cart for free shipping is set and is greater than 0.
As long as all 3 of the above are met your new block should appear!
This extension has been tried and tested in version 1.5.0.1 but may work on other versions however I have yet to test. You’ll also find this extension very soon on Magento Connect – as long as they get their upload feature working that is!

I have programmers on staff, but most of our experience is with Joomla.
I was curious if you have an idea of how difficult it might be to make this extension recognize the Regional Free Shipping, instead of the regular one?

Is there any posibilites to insert this extension in the cart instead of sidebar?
I second bruno – this would be very good to also have in the cart. Also, a very sensible feature would be for the incentive not to appear if the set price for free shipping is too far from current cart content – you have 2$ worth of products in your cart, and free shipping is set for 50$ – it’s a bit hilarous to inform the user he must spend 48$ more for free shipping. I would have it appear when he’s 2/3 of the way there, only then would it become a useful upsell tool.
